Optimize Your Recovery: Three Modalities that Can Enhance Your Total Wellness

Something we like to stress at iMove PT is that physical therapy isn’t just about treating pain. Instead, our team helps you understand the full picture of your body’s performance and guides you toward lasting, empowered wellness.

However, accomplishing this goal requires going beyond the surface. Fortunately, we offer several unique modalities that can help you do exactly that. Today, we want to focus on three of them, including how they can work together to treat soft tissue and musculoskeletal injuries while promoting strength, resilience, and overall function.

The Neubie: Neuro-Based Healing for Soft Tissue Repair

Available at our Chesterfield, Kansas City, Joplin, and Mid County St. Louis locations. Our Tulsa location offers a similar device, the Neux Pro.

The Neubie (Neuro-Bio-Electric Stimulator) is a revolutionary direct current device that targets neuromuscular re-education and pain reduction. It’s similar to more traditional electrical stimulation treatments but uses a pulsed direct current to stimulate your nervous system and improve communication between your brain and muscles.

During treatment, the Neubie scans your body to find areas of dysfunction, then delivers precise electrical stimulation to retrain your nervous system. This helps re-educate muscles to fire correctly, activate deeper muscle fibers, and improve neuromuscular connections–all of which promote better control and coordination.

You might think of it as a nervous system reboot for your body’s hardware, which is why it can be so helpful when you’ve been stuck in a cycle of recurring soft tissue injuries.

Key Benefits of the Neubie

  • Facilitates recovery from soft tissue injuries like sprains, strains, or post-surgical repair
  • Reduces pain and helps decrease swelling
  • Enhances muscular control and performance

HRV Diagnostic: The Window into Your Nervous System

Only available at our Chesterfield location.

What if you could measure how well your body handles stress, recovery, and resilience? That’s exactly what our HRV diagnostic tool does.

HRV, or Heart Rate Variability, is a noninvasive scan that measures the variation in time between heartbeats. This helps us evaluate the balance between your sympathetic (fight-or-flight) and parasympathetic (rest-and-digest) systems and can help us decide where targeted stimulation from the Neubie will make the most impact.

A low variability suggests that your body is under stress or not recovering efficiently. High variability typically indicates better adaptability, recovery, and nervous system health.

Key Benefits Of HRV Scanning

  • Tracks your progress over time
  • Detects early signs of nervous system dysfunction
  • Measures recovery capacity
  • Assesses how well your body responds to treatment

Winback Tecar Therapy: Deep Healing at the Cellular Level

Only available at our Chesterfield location.

Winback Tecar therapy is a cutting-edge modality that uses high-frequency electromagnetic energy to accelerate cellular repair and promote circulation deep within your tissues.

This device delivers energy through strategically placed electrodes, helping to stimulate both surface-level and deep tissue. It enhances blood flow, increases oxygenation, and promotes the natural repair processes within muscles, joints, and ligaments.

Benefits of Winback Tecar Therapy

  • Reduces inflammation and pain
  • Facilitates post-injury recovery
  • Improves joint mobility

Combining Modalities for The Best Effect

Individually, each of these tools offers impressive benefits. However, when combined, they create a transformative treatment approach that harmonizes the nervous and musculoskeletal systems.

Combining HRV and the Neubie

By combining Neubie therapy with HRV monitoring, our therapists gain objective feedback on how your nervous system is responding to the demands of your life. Neubie treatments help with symptom relief, improved sleep, and better neuromuscular coordination, leading to an improved recovery state.

Combining All Three

Combining all of these modalities offers a whole-person approach addressing pain and injuries.

For example, HRV scanning maps your stress response and helps us understand why your healing might be slow. The Neubie then targets those dysfunctions at the neuromuscular level, retraining communication between your brain and body to restore proper function. Meanwhile, Tecar therapy can facilitate healing at the cellular level, helping to reduce inflammation and promoting better blood flow.

Tara Voyles (PTA)

I graduated in 2015 from Missouri University of Science and Technology with a B.S. in Biological Sciences, and graduated in 2018 from St. Louis College of Health Careers with an AAS as a Physical Therapist Asst. I have been in the PT field for about 6.5 years, with my experience being in an outpatient orthopedic clinic. Throughout my time in an outpatient setting, I have seen a variety of muscular, post-surgical, and balance focused diagnoses, as well as experience with many patients working towards returning to sports. I’m experienced with many manual therapy techniques and orthopedic injuries, and am currently working towards gaining a CSCS certification to expand my knowledge and expertise on strength and conditioning.

As far as personal life, I am a boxer (for fun, not professionally), and teach boxing/kickboxing group classes, as well as provide one-on-one boxing training. I enjoy going to concerts, staying active outdoors, traveling, and spending time with my friends and my fiancé.
