Everything You Need to Know About Our Healthy Longevity Program

Getting older might be inevitable, but losing strength, mobility, and independence doesn’t have to be! There are steps you can take to preserve strength, mobility, and independence as you age.

At iMove PT, we don’t just want to expand your lifespan. We want to expand your health span–the years you spend feeling capable, independent, and engaged in your life. To help you achieve that goal, we offer the Healthy Longevity program. Here’s everything you need to know.

Why Healthy Aging Deserves Your Attention

It’s undeniable that the body changes with age. Muscle strength and aerobic capacity can decline, while stiffness, balance problems, and slower recovery may become more noticeable.

The good news? Your body remains responsive to exercise even as you get older. Resistance training can improve strength and physical function in older adults, including people well into their 70s and 80s. Aerobic activity can support cardiovascular fitness and endurance, while balance training can improve balance and help reduce fall risk.

Essentially, you can start building the physical capacity today that will help you stay active tomorrow.

A Deep Dive into Our Healthy Longevity Program

Why Have a Physical Therapist on Your Team?

The iMove PT physical therapists are movement experts with years of education in improving biomechanics, preventing injury, and staying active. This experience provides us with a valuable perspective on long-term wellness and healthy aging.

Our Healthy Longevity Program isn’t a physical therapy treatment plan, but it harnesses our team’s knowledge of movement, exercise, and training to support proactive fitness, wellness, and healthy aging.

What Does the Healthy Longevity Program Include?

As with traditional PT, your program begins with a comprehensive assessment that looks at your movement patterns and identifies any areas that may need extra attention. From there, we’ll develop a personalized plan and provide ongoing coaching, progress checks, and adjustments as needed.

Depending on your needs and membership level, your plan may incorporate several areas:

Strength, Fitness, and Movement

All plans include customized exercise, progressive strength development, fall-prevention strategies, and performance training. We select exercises that are challenging to create change while remaining appropriate for your abilities. Your plan can evolve as your strength and fitness improve.

Mobility, Recovery, and Injury Prevention

Feeling stiff or sore can make it harder to stay active. Mobility sessions, recovery strategies, exercise, individualized movement guidance, and hands-on treatment, when appropriate, can help address barriers to consistent movement.

Lifestyle Support

Exercise is one piece of healthy aging. Sleep, stress, nutrition, and daily activity habits all play important roles, too. For that reason, we’ll often incorporate lifestyle coaching, accountability, and access to functional nutrition expertise to provide a broader approach to healthy aging.

Advanced Assessment and Treatment Tools

Depending on location and individual needs, we might also incorporate advanced techniques such as:

  • Symmio technology to assess movement quality and lifestyle factors that can help inform individualized exercise and wellness planning (used at all locations)
  • Neubie direct-current electrical stimulation to improve the body-brain connection
  • Heart rate variability (HRV) testing to assess patterns related to nervous system function and recovery
  • Winback TECAR therapy to reduce any muscle soreness from workouts

Mid County Spotlight: Meet Our Newest PT, Anne

Anne Lueken, physical therapist at iMove PT Mid County

Anne Lueken is excited to be a part of the iMove PT Mid County mobile team! She graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences and from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois for her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in 2021. She also was certified in the LSVT Big program, a movement-based program to treat Parkinson’s Disease, in 2021.

Before joining iMove PT in August, she worked for 5 years in the outpatient setting. She treated a wide variety of orthopedic and neurological conditions and specialized in post-operative shoulder rehab, Parkinson’s disease and running injuries.

Anne is originally from West Michigan. She met her husband, Henry, while in physical therapy school and moved to St Louis after graduation. Outside of work, you will find her chasing after her one-year-old son, cooking and jogging. She also eats entirely too much ice cream; her favorite, Toasted Coconut from Hudsonville Ice Cream, is made in her home town. She enjoys swimming, gardening, reading and board games when she has the time.

Anne went into physical therapy in part because of the time physical therapists get to spend with their patients and get to know them compared to other medical professions. iMove PT exemplifies this because of the one-on-one, personalized treatment model. Anne was also drawn to the field because she loves movement and exercise and is passionate about being able to help others move better, especially older adults, and stay as independent as possible. She enjoys working in the mobile setting which allows for greater flexibility to meet client needs and restore daily function in their own environment. She looks forward to meeting new clients and helping them reduce pain, restore movement, gain strength and improve balance to reach their mobility goals.
